The Malfoy's only concern was Draco. If they could have "gotten out" of the death eater family without consequence, they would have. As Voldemort became more powerful it was clear that the Malfoy's were in way over their heads.
In the end Narcissa knew that Harry had probably seen Draco in the castle and wanted to know that he was okay. She could have easily sold Harry out to Voldemort but I don't think she was nearly as evil as you would think. She was a mom! Narcissca (Draco's Mom) could obviously tell that Harry was still alive and that Voldemort's attempt to kill him once again had failed but she said he wasn't to the Death Eaters so she could ask him a question. Wanting to know what had happened to her son in the mist of the battle, she risked someone finding out she was lying about Harry being dead, asked anyways and finaly got her answer. Harry nodded, because he had just so recently saved Draco and knew he was alive. The Malfoy's only concern was Draco. She could have easily sold Harry out to Voldemort but I don't think she was nearly as evil as you would think. She was a mom! She wanted to know if her son is still alive, and Harry nodded to confirm her that he's still living (well he couldn't say "yes he is" while Voldemord was still there) She was asking Harry if Draco was still alive and Harry confirmed it positively.
Is he still alive? Draco? She was asking harry if draco was still alive and in the castle. If she said to voldemort that harry was dead, she and lucius would then be allowed into the castle along with the other death eaters, and then they could search for draco.Because Narcissa Malfoy has never been loyal to Voldemort and the only thing that concerned her was keeping her family alive. Harry sayd yes because he didn't want Voldemort to find out that he was alive yet. Because Draco was at Hogwarts and by pretending Harry was dead, the Death Eaters got access to Hogwarts. if harry said draco was dead she would've told Voldemort Harry was still alive. She no longer cared about the war, or whether Voldemort won. She only wanted to know if her son was still alive, because if he was, the only way she would be allowed to go to the castle and find him was as part of the victory party. She was asking Harry, "Is he alive? Draco?" meaning is Draco still alive in the castle. She protected Harry by saying he was dead because Harry told her Draco was still alive.Because why Draco was inside the castle under seige, she and her husband were forced to stay by Voldemort's side and they were worried he had died. Harry at that point was alive, but so severely diable that for a while he was unable to move very much or feel pain. He just whispered, "Yes." In the books, at least. Another difference was that the Malfoys deserted Voldemort and ran off...cowards, but ones who had realized the error of their ways. Its because she loved Draco and did not really like Voldemort. So, she was ready to lie if her son was alive. So, even voldemort could not get through her lies since she was such a good liar ( forgot the word) No no no, she said "Is he alive? Draco, is he alive?" She was asking Harry if her son was alive because none of the death eaters would know, Harry was the only one who had been around him and she knew he was alive, she was worried about her son, thats all. It was sort of a deal. If Draco was still alive she would tell Voldermort that Harry was dead but obviously he wasn't. In my opinon she wanted nothing more to do with Voldermort that's why in the the end she just walked away with Draco and Lucius followed.
