It is unknown exactly how old she is (she is probably reluctant to tell anyone), but she is old enough to have greying hair and to have been the matron at Hogwarts since the Marauders were students there in the 1970s. She must have been at least in her early 20s when she started working at Hogwarts, making her at least about 45 years old by 1998, but probably older.
